It's a new week and we continue with our Divine Experience episodes. I don't know if you have ever tried talking to someone when their attention is somewhere else.

Maybe you've come from work or from a trip and you just can't wait to tell your spouse how you're there was or how your trip went. But their eyes are desperately fixed to the game on the T. V. You want to establish a connection with them, you want them to share in your joy in your fears, you want them to experience what's going on in your mind. But they are just not listening. There is something called selective listening or as many people refer to call it the cocktail party effect which is the tendency to block out noise and listen to one specific sound of voice because it aligns with your goals and interests. That is why your brain will prioritize the sound on the tv over your spouse or child because you're focused on finishing that episode because you want to hear that mall that whatever they have to say.

So in today's reading, we are going to hear about a boy to whom the Lord appeared at a time when people no longer received visions or revelations from the Lord at a time when the Lord no longer spoke to the people and the people no longer had from the Lord first some all 31 to 11 says that the boy, someone's ministered to the Lord before early and the word of the Lord was rare in those days. There was no widespread revelation and it came to pass at that time. While early was lying down in his place and when his eyes had begun to grow so dim that he could not see. And before the lamb of God went out in the Tabernacle of the Lord where the ark of God was. And while someone was lying down that the Lord called someone and he answered, Here I am.

So he ran too early and said, Here I am for you called me. And he said, I did not call lie down again. And he went and lay down. Then the Lord called yet again someone. So someone arose and went too early and he said, Here I am, for you called and he said, I did not call my son lie down again. Now someone did not yet know the Lord nor was the word of the Lord yet revealed to someone and the Lord called someone again at that time. So he arose and went too early and said, Here I am for you did call me then early perceived that the Lord had called the boy. Therefore early said to someone go lie down and shall be, if he calls you that you must say speak Lord for your servant hears. So someone went and lay down in his place. Now the Lord came and stood and called.

As at other times some will someone and someone answered, speak for your servant, his. Then the Lord said to someone, behold I will do something in Israel, at which both ears of everyone who here it will tingle. You know, if you read the chapters before this, you will realize that the people had hardened their hearts and there was so much corruption in the priesthood and therefore God did not speak so often and when he did it was a word of judgment. This was a precarious time. The book of judges 21 25 says that the people did what was right in their own eyes. It was a dark time for the people of Israel early. Their priest was going blind and they were lost in their own blindness. But the Bible says that Osama was slept in the temple with the ark of the covenant as young as he was.

The Lord called him three times. The bible says the Lord called him, but he didn't understand right away who was calling him. And neither did early since someone was so unacquainted with the visions of the Lord that he thought it must have been early that was calling him. He did what was what so many of us do these days. The Lord calls us with his word. He calls us with his providence, but we focused on his instruments. He calls. But we do not look at him. He calls, but we do not design his voice in the call. He calls, but the impression of his voice are lost soon enough and we lie back down our convictions having come back to nothing. But the bible says that the Lord called someone a second time and at that time until he answered and say speak For your 70s.

I don't know if you realize the divine grace in this call. The call was repeated time and time again until someone came to aid until its purpose was affected. Someone understood the written word. He knew the mind of God with regard to aid. But he couldn't comprehend the manner in which God could reveal himself to him. And so he blundered time and time again until he understood his call. And I know we've been there too many other times that we have mistaken the witness of the spirit of God in our hearts many other times. We've mistaken the striving of the Spirit of God with our conscious until the benefit of conviction is lost. But the law did not tire with someone and he does not tire with us. Because there is special providence in his persistence with us.

There is special providence in our dutiful nous that we should persistently sick understanding of his one because the bible says that at the end of it early perceived that the Lord had got summer and so the Lord through early placed summer into a position to receive his one. All thoughts and doubts that it might have been early calling him had been put to rest. He had been prepared to meet the source of the Voice that he had mistaken so many times. The bible says that the next time God called Samuel was ready to answer and he said, Speak for the servant here With his words, he showed a desire to know the mind of God. He showed a readiness to hear and to attend to the command of the Lord. This time he did not rise to run too early for a confirmation. His spirit was conformed, composed and better prepared for a divine discovery.

He came disposed and willing to submit himself to the commanding light of the Lord. And I pray today. The Lord may give us the grace to rest our stimulus, thoughts and passions to find the quiet in our souls so that we may hear when he calls, so that we may design when it is him talking to us, so that we, we may tell his ways and his voice form the way from the ways of men, from the voices of men. But the Lord help us to not just worship him like someone did before his call, but to also know him intimately like someone did after the call. May he placed in our lives a guide, a mentor even as he placed early in the life of Samel, someone who can help us recognize and respond to the voice of the Lord.

Someone who can help us place as in a position we need to be to receive our call and make our conviction and the impression of his voice not be lost to us. May. His gracious providence help us to recognize the striving and the witness of the spirit of God in our hearts. But the Lord help us to recognize his voice when it is done. Rush, and when it is a small steel voice when we come to him disposed and willing to submit to his command in jesus, mighty name shall.
