Yeah. Mhm Good morning and welcome This is a new week. We continue with our divine experience episodes. And if you have been following these services on friday we left of where God had paid Abraham a visit and renewed his promise that Sarah would bear a child. We saw God a farm in his word for a second time to this couple who are well past the age of childbearing. Abraham had found favor in the eyes of the Lord to the extent that God would reveal his plans to him. And we say that the Lord remembers his promises. So today being a new week we are going to continue with that story from where we left off as the main turned and headed towards sort of So our reading today is from Genesis 1823 Up to 33 the Bible tells us that Abraham came near and said would you also destroy the right shares with the weekend?

Suppose there were 50 righteous within the city. Would you also destroy the place and not spare it for the 50 righteous that were in it. Far be it from you to do such a thing as this to slay the righteous with the weekend so that the righteous should be as the weekend far be it from. You shall not the judge of all earth dude. Right so the Lord said if I find in Sodom, 50 righteous within the city then I'll spare all the place for their sick. Then Abraham said indeed now I who am but dust and ashes have taken it upon myself to speak to the Lord. suppose there were five less than the 50 righteous is who do you destroy all of the city, for lack of five. So he said, If there be 45, I will not destroy it. And he spoke to him yet again and said, suppose there should be 40 found there.

So he said, I will not do it for the sake of 40. Then he said, let not the Lord be angry and I will speak suppose Dari should be found there. So he said. I will not do it if I Find that he there. And he said, Indeed, now I have taken it upon myself to speak to the Lord, supposed 20 should be found there. So he said, I will not destroy it for the sake of 20. Then the Lord said. Then he said, let not the Lord be angry, I will speak, but once more, Suppive 10 should be found there. And he said, I will not destroy for the sake of 10. So the Lord went his way. As soon as he had finished speaking with Abraham and Abraham returned to his place, We call what we've just read an intercession.

It came from Abraham following the statement of the Lord that he had issued regarding the certain destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. I believe Abraham certainly knew the wickedness that was going on in those cities. The reputation of their behavior had to have spread far and wide. But notice the generous instincts of Abraham's nature. Notice the readiness in which he offered this prayer on behalf of the dwellers of the cities. He prayed so ministry. He offers such a solemn prayer for a city that was obviously thinking in immorality as I read this, I can't but feel that it was the readiness with which the Lord answered Abraham that encouraged him to continue by gaining with the Lord to continue praying that the city's be spared.

If Only a few righteous people would be found in them. He asked the Lord supposed to find 50, supposed to find 45, supposed to fight 40. And the Lord continues to tell him if I find that number, I will spare the city. You see Abraham was doing what we all do. When we find ourselves in difficult situation, we ask the Lord what we let take for you to end this pain. What must we do to be said, where is your massacre, new judges? But the Lord had paid APRA ham this visit. He had made time for him. He had initiated this relationship. He had laid the ground for this began and that Abraham was negotiating with the Lord for the sake of Sodom and Gomorrah. He got to experience how far the boundaries of Gods must c span. I don't know if you notice the persistence and the bold humility in this intercession.

You say. Well Abraham did not demand that God explained himself and his actions to him. He did not give up his negotiation. He pressed on and managed to prevail upon the law to lower the number of righteous people he would consider enough to save the city, we have said before in the previous episodes, the divine experiences do not just happen for the sake of it. They have a purpose for Abraham. It had been to establish a relationship with the Lord. It was to reaffirm God's promises to him. And now we see another purpose for this particular one. It had drawn out the kind of heart that the Lord wanted to draw out of Abraham. The kind of a heart a father of a nation would need to have a caring heart, a heart full of love and inter sense us hard. And this is something I want us to challenge ourselves with today.

When you go through those unique experiences, be they good or bad? Try and ask yourself what's their purpose? What could be the lot, Be trying to teach you what could be the Lord trying to draw out of you. The Bible says in John 1515, no longer do I call you servants for a servant. Does not understand what his master is doing. But I have called you friends because everything I have learned from my father I have made known to you. Nothing the Lord does is without purpose. And by the end of this reading, we see why Abraham is referred to as a friend of God. This visitation has seen the reaffirmation of promises. We see the Lord letting Abraham into his counsel. We see Abraham being granted privileges with a friend of God That he can have a one on 1 meeting with God and negotiate with him.

And let me tell you one thing that is really touching in genesis 19 was 29, the Bible says, and it came to pass when God destroyed the cities of the plain. That God remembered Abraham and sent a lot out of the mid east of the overthrow when he overthrew the cities in which Lord had dwelt. You see, God saved lot and his daughters because he remembered Abraham, we said yesterday that the Lord remembers and this would serve as evidence. It will serve as a reminder to Abraham that the Lord will keep his promises and proved that God would work out all things for good in ways that Abraham would not have imagined. And I pray that we may show this honest readiness to draw near the Lord. Even when things seems to be going wrong, I pray that we may not cease to seek the Lord. That even when he fulfills one promise, when he gives us an answer, we may find encouragement in that to seek him with a kind of a persistence that Abraham sought him with.

May. We not forget the times that the Lord has fulfilled his promises. I pray that the Lord will visit you in your situation. May you get to experience how far the boundaries of his massive rich made the desires of your heart prevail upon the Lord to grant them according to his will. May your eyes be open to the divine purpose of whatever you're going through. May it draw out of you for the Lord intends to draw out until when you look back, you can say the Lord has been faithful. You know, sometimes we criticize and say, Oh abraham should have gone lower than 10. But whenever I read This vast nine a chapter 19 Verse 29, I am so blessed to know that there were people who were saved because God remembered Abraham May you divinely experience the law to the level of being a friend shall.
