Hello and welcome to another meditating in God's Word podcast. I am your host, Dorothy Rose of Dorothy Rose dot com. Thank you so much for joining me today for this abbreviated bible lesson. We are in lesson 38. This is entitled slaves for Pharaoh. This is in Genesis 47. So this is where the famine is getting pretty severe. Um and the people that are coming to get food and the Egyptians are getting so depressed because they are running out of money to get food. And so joseph said, well you ran out of money, let me get your livestock.

So they gave and gave and gave and they didn't have any more livestock. After that someone suggested that they sell themselves and their land for the grain. So what Joseph did was Joseph gave them a seed so they could plant their own grain and then at harvest time they would have to give 1 5th Of that to Pharaoh. This is an amazing story. Read it for yourself in the Bible in Genesis 47, I'm going to give you a little bit of commentary and then some questions and we'll close out, God continue to bless Jacob with life. He lived another 17 years. Joseph swore to Jacob that he would not bury him in Egypt Jacob and joseph missed a lot of time together because of the brothers. Evil plan. God already knew that joseph's brothers were going to sell him and he would miss a considerable amount of time with his favorite son.

God worked it out so that joseph was able to spend and enjoy a period of time with his dad before he died. So I'm gonna give you two questions. What did Jacob due to pharaoh? And what did the people give to get grain? Who did not sell their land to Pharaoh? All right. So for those questions, if you can give me chapter and verse, I would greatly appreciate it.
