Starting with just five minutes a day. Yeah well hello there and welcome to Mindful and five where we learn how to apply mindfulness and meditation to the challenges of everyday life in bite sized episodes for people with no time. Yeah that's you. My name is vera jefferson and today we are talking about a common myth of mindfulness meditation in our series of five myths, this is our last one myth number five I don't have time goodness.

How many times do you think of that in a week? I don't have time, I don't have time, I don't have time to illustrate this one. Let me share with you a quick story about my good friend a car. He goes to my other good friend Chantelle and he says I can't take time for mindfulness. My wife insists on nightly family dinner. The kids get up early in the morning and I have to help them prepare them for school, chantel smiles her wise smile because Chantelle is a mindful ninja who's very wise and a car who's just trying to get started with his mindfulness Practice throws up his hands in despair and he says how can I take time for mindfulness when I don't even have time for make. Yeah. Does the cars problems sound like your problem to daily activities crowd your life, leaving too little or no room for self care. But here's the thing.

Taking time for yourself will improve your ability to handle everything else. It also allows you to set your intentions and recenter yourself when unexpected challenges rise throughout your day. Yes, time is a luxury. But give yourself the luxury of time. Maybe making time means being disciplined enough to wake up at least five minutes earlier every day. So you create time to center yourself for that day. Maybe it means taking time before bed or heading for your mindfulness space first thing each morning before you do anything else. It could mean forcing yourself to take a break and not spending your entire lunch hour working at your desk, taking some mindfulness time there maybe it means going to hide in your mindfulness meditation space for at least five minutes.

At the end of the day when the family thinks you're in the bathroom visualize how peaceful you will feel coming out of your mindfulness practice after you've been practicing a while you're gonna you're gonna feel that peace. Visualize how much better and more effective you will be as a friend, as an employee, as a spouse, a partner or parent. If you give yourself this time, I can guarantee you this one thing. You are worth it. Thank you for listening to mindful in Five, join the Mindful in Five community at www.
