Welcome back everybody to another episode today on a wonderful Wednesday today. We want to kind of follow up our last episode about creating desire with another episode called enjoy the journey because as we are going through life as we are trying to pursue certain and goals, it's definitely a journey and we lose our desire, we lose our motivation, we lose our confidence, we're when things get hard, we struggle, we really struggle and sometimes we feel like we're not there yet, we're not there yet.

We didn't reach the goal and we can get really frustrated. So we wanted to do this topic today because we just wanted that reminder that life that goals whatever we're going after, it is a journey. So, and just to have that mindset that you're not, you know, experiencing setbacks or failures or you know, I mean, yes, there's times where we get off course or we kind of give up for a little bit, but it doesn't mean it's over, it's not like all or nothing, right? So we want to remind you and sometimes we need these reminders that it's a journey is a journey and enjoy it. Yes. And we can enjoy it. That's right. We can enjoy it. We don't have to delay enjoyment of life or of this journey until we've reached our goal, right? We think, oh, I can't wait till I lose £20 I can't wait till I get this job, or I can't wait till I have money in the bank or or until the kids are all settled until the house is clean, right? There's a variety of things that we desire. We talked about desire last week that we want and we think once we get those things then we'll be happy, then we'll be peaceful, then we'll be secure.

But the truth of it is we can create those feelings and we need to enjoy the ride until we get there. Those that circumstance. That weight loss isn't going to make you feel happy, right? Our thoughts create our feelings. But we think that we think, well, when this happens then the when then, which is not healthy. And so we want to talk about that today, enjoying the journey on the road to achieving your goals, right? And just remembering it's a progress. It's a process, it is progress, but it's a process. So remembering that and how can we make it a little bit more fun? How can we make it enjoyable? How do we even just um accept it. I think that's a really hard one is just acceptance, right? Because like you said, well when I reach that then everything will be great, then I'll feel so much better, but we really feel like that's true and sometimes that does happen sometimes when we reach it. But again, that's kind of short lived.

We need to remember that there's so much more to it than just when I reached that. Or even if I had this, then I'll feel great or then I'll be happier if I was debt free or if I was at my goal weight or if my kids just can get along and clean in the house when I asked her all those things, well what about now? It's kind of discouraging because we think, well it's not happening now. So then I guess is it ever going to happen? And we start feeling those more negative feelings, frustration, anger, sadness, insecurity, all those things, impatience, that's another big one. But just remembering, it's a process. It's a process and accepting the process as it is. Yeah, it's such a great point. I was coaching a client yesterday and where she was behind on a goal, like she's really trying to build her business and it's not going the way she wanted to and there were a lot of feelings of frustration and doubt and discouragement and second guessing like, well maybe I shouldn't be doing this and um that part of it is learning to enjoy the process of building a business is difficult, so let me just put it out there.

I'm a serial entrepreneur, I've started several businesses. It's difficult no matter what business you're doing, there's going to be hard moments. There's gonna be new software to learn or new programs to learn or you know, I think I've shared this before, but it took me nine days to run my first facebook ad and connect it and Get it automated. I don't know why it was so difficult. I look back now and like, this should not have taken more than 30 minutes, but for some reason I spent nine days on it and you know, I think at the time my brain thought this is hard, this is hard. And so because my brain thought that my experience of it was, this is hard, this is hard. And then I would get frustrated and I would walk away from it. I'm like, I'm going to start again tomorrow. And this went on like I said for nine days and I was not enjoying the journey, let me just tell you in that particular few days, I think I remember texting you like, I'm crying so hard inside, it's like, it's so hard. But looking back now, I realize, you know, I look back at it with kind of humor, it's like, it is actually really funny that it took me nine days to figure out something that's actually pretty straight forward and simple, I don't know.

And then we have this whole thing with editing the podcast when we first started? I tried it once and I was like, oh no, this is so hard, I can't do this. Like it's way too hard. And you generously volunteered to take on the editing. And it's so funny as you were out of town or something, I had to edit. And for some reason, a few weeks ago I didn't, it was, it was easy. And so when we say, enjoy the journey, I'm telling you, we can get frustrated by things that we think are hard or difficult. But the journey, the learning at all, it's funny to me now and I'm enjoying it because I'm like, oh, I can do hard things, I can figure it out. And then other things aren't so hard anymore because my brain is like, you know, you already know how to do hard things, this is good for you, this is what you do. And then I can enjoy it. And so even when I don't understand things, like another thing, I'm creating a quiz and that's a whole nother software and I'm like, last time I tried, it was hard and this time I just had fun with it and it's so funny, I just found the right program and I did it in like 30 minutes, it was so easy and fun.

Like I'm like, this is so much fun, I'm just enjoying the journey. Instead of getting caught up with doubts and self, um, what were you saying? Yes, judging like you're never going to get this and what am I, what are you doing? And and just enjoy it. Go, wow, this is really difficult. This is challenging. I'm so glad I'm up for the task. I'm so glad that I'm capable of doing this and figuring it out. You know, that is the plus side of technology. There's youtube google things. A lot of people are sharing their wisdom out That we can learn and yeah, it might feel frustrating because what somebody can figure out in 10 minutes, it might take us nine days. Yeah, I Know it's like I could have paid someone probably $50 on fiber to do it. But that's a whole another story anyway, another story. But also it's like we have two choices when we hit those tough moments and those thoughts that this is really hard. I don't know if I can do it. We really have two choices. Well I can give up or I can push through and figure it out.

So whether you choose to go left, you choose to go right, we'll create a result. So if I give up, I'm not creating the result that I truly want. I'm really taking the easy, comfortable route, but in the long run I'm not happy with myself because I gave up and that's really what true failure is right, true failure is not making mistakes or getting off course it's giving up fully and so, but the other result or the other choice we have is to just push through, try to figure it out. Ask for help, research, allow yourself the time and patience that it will take to figure it out. And that again, it is the process, right? It's just accepting that this is a process. I was kind of thinking about timeline to, I think we have such an expectation that like we put a timeline on things by this time. I need to figure this out or forget it. I'm done. Then I'll never figure it out if I don't figure this out in two days and I'll never figure it out. And you easily could have given up, right? But you didn't, you push through. You figure it out.

You kind of slowed down a little because you did get frustrated and gave yourself a break when you needed a break, but you continue to push through and figure it out. And now you got it right. And that is what life is about. A life is a journey. It's a process. And I was kind of thinking of my own specific example right now is that I want to lose some weight. All that. Covid. Wait, thank you very much. And I was thinking I already got a dress for this date in november with my husband and it's this big annual dinner for his work and love love, love it. Um it's like such the highlight of the year, but I got this dress, it fits, but it's like it could fit a little better, lose a little bit of poundage. So I was thinking, I'm like, if I don't reach my goal weight by november, will I not enjoy the day? So I don't want to put so much weight on. I don't want to put so much weight on the goal that if I'm going to be discouraged, if I don't hit it by that date and then I'm frustrated and then I feel like a failure and I'm gonna happy with myself because that could be a tendency, right?

But realize is that hey, I'm just going to enjoy the process, enjoy the journey. I'm going to do what I can and not necessarily put a timeline, not necessarily put maybe a number on it, but just take the steps right, take the steps that I want and need to do, even when it's going to get hard to at least go the right direction and enjoy the date how it is right and not be so frustrated. So it could be any example in our life that we're, yeah, we'd lost is such a big one. I think so many of us struggle. Yeah. Well I, you know, I was sharing with some friends in august, I stored a lot of extra energy on my body, all those fried pies in Tennessee and then I was in Maui for a few days with my youngest daughter and you know, I wasn't holding back. So anyway, so september is filled with a lot of extra stored energy on my body. So I'm like, okay, I need to utilize that energy and get back to normal. So I'm sharing that with a friend. She thought that was such a funny way of saying it, but I'm like, that's just the way I'm looking at it.

Which is why, you know, last week I decided I'm going to start running a little bit, even if it's 30 seconds or 45 seconds, which is about all my body could do, it's a process. But the thing with weight loss or working out is we can make it fun. Like I love looking at new recipes like just that to me is enjoyable. That's a part of the process of, okay, if I want to lose weight, it's not so much what can't I have, well, what can I have and find great new recipes. And So I guess apparently I had done this a couple of years ago, I had done a whole two week menu program with new recipes and all that and just found it the other day, like it was stored on my computer and I don't know if I printed it out. We, you know, we were moving and we were unsettled for 15 months. So I just found it and printed it out and I showed my husband, I said do these recipes look good too. And he's like, yeah, they actually, and I said, well great because we're going to start eating these for two is a two week meal plan. But it was fun. And I remember when I created it was fun. And so I was enjoying the journey. The process of it's like I can find joyful things to do.

Um maybe find places to walk or exercise that you enjoy. We have a creek nearby. So we tend to exercise near there because I love that. I don't love working. I don't love working out, but I do love being near the creek and under the trees and hearing the birds. I do love that. So finding joy in the moments along the journey as you're trying to pursue your goals. And as I was talking about accepting the process, we also it's important to accept the imperfections, right? That's a given. Um and also giving yourself grace. It's really important to give ourselves grace because we can be really hard on ourselves if we're not meeting that quote unquote timeline, because we do have expectations, right? We have expectations when we're trying to go after any kind of a goal or just in general, but just being aware also of what our expectations are. Our um and again, not putting too much weight on our expectations. Sometimes we do need to lower those expectations a bit and allow our expectations to be more enjoyable and pursue a ble as christian women, we have to remember that we know that for those, Those of us who love God, all things work together for the good.

I love that passage in Romans 828 because when I remember that, like even the hard times, even the disappointments, even the frustrations, even the challenges God is working for our good, how can we not enjoy the journey when we realize all of this is going to end for our good? I wish that I had had some of these tools and some of these beliefs like 5, 10 years ago when things were really tough in my life, I was not enjoying the journey and I kept telling myself well when we're debt free, when when you know and it was kind of like you were bearing down, it's kinda like you're holding your breath right, well I'll be happy when this happens and you're just kind of holding your breath and gritting your teeth and just bearing with it until that circumstance changes and honestly it was a really difficult, difficult few years and it didn't need to be, I made it that way because I didn't have the tools and the resources, I didn't know how to do thought work, I didn't know how to manage and direct my brain, I just whatever I thought I just believed and just went with that and I was not enjoying the journey and it's so much more fun now, even though sometimes things aren't going as well as fast or as quickly as I would like, I'm just finding the joy in the journey and it just makes life so much more pleasant.

Right? It's like why are we making it so hard on ourselves? And especially as women of faith, there's no reason that we're not enjoying each and every single day because honestly, it's all we're guaranteed right? We're not guaranteed tomorrow. So today better be awesome. I'm not going to wait for next week or next month or next year because I don't know what's around the corner, you know, might not be good. I don't know, it might be even better. I'm going to continue to believe that it's going to be better, but I'm also going to believe that I'm going to enjoy the journey while I'm going there. Yeah, absolutely. I think as long as we're making those steps forward, right? I mean be be gracious to yourself and patient and try to enjoy it as much as possible. There's a lot of things in our life. I think we take too serious and just to take life a little more lightly in areas that we can that we're able to control, Right? So good.
